Hi everyone,

Thank you all for your participation in a wonderful presentation round followed by an exciting Q&A active listening session. I’ll grade your participation by Sunday evening.

As announced previously, I am sending you answer keys to activities 3 and 4. They include answers to all the exercises so that those who missed the class where we discussed activity 3 could have the opportunity to check their answers. Please review them and keep in mind that since the questions are open, there is a variety of ways to answer correctly. In addition to reviewing the key, you may also want to work with ChatGPT as a tool to generate feedback on the answers you have composed. Design a detailed prompt, as showcased at the beginning of the course, to provide it with specific instructions: you want to explain the task to the chat, provide it with the lists of words/phrases and guidelines I have shared with you throughout the course. And then ask it for ways to improve your writing with an essential element of an explanation of your mistakes.

Next week I’ll see you for the final exam in room 315 where the CALL Lab is located. That’s on the third floor of the Humanities and Arts building.

Those of you who are entitled to any special exam accommodations, please email me the paperwork and bring it to the exam for the proctors to see. In addition, please bring a paper dictionary or feel free to use online dictionaries available on the computer you’ll be sitting in front of. You’ll be able to do the exam by typing your answers directly in the answer sheet in Microsoft Word or write them by hand in a paper brochure.

The exam starts at 16:30 and lasts 2.5 hours. Please arrive early to get accommodated. I’ll be there to instruct you and answer your questions. Here’s a short excerpt from our syllabus as to the breakdown of the final grade:

The course grade is made up of the following components: 

10% - one of the joint presentations

10% - individual presentation on scientific news

 5% - active participation and constructive feedback on peers’ presentations

75% - final exam
